About The Event

New expanded 3 hour format!

Now includes a special incense ritual to connect you with the exquisite subtle world of aromatics and ignite a passion for true incense. Whether you're new to making incense or you've already attended this workshop you dont want t miss this.

Do you find most incense on the market overstimulating and irritating to the senses?

Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own incense?

Do you feel called to develop a deeper connection with the plant world, and learn to unlock its secrets in a deeply mystical way?

If so, read on, this workshop is for you.

The art of truly natural incense is nearly a lost art, maintained only by a few lineages of masters, mostly in Japan. What was once a sacred art has become big business and mass production. Almost all incense on the market today is made with chamical additives, despite beautiful packaging (with no ingredients listed). Not only is this an ethical issue, but it causes irritation to the senses, causing headaches, sinus issues and desensitization that then requires more unnaturally strong stimulation to have an effect. The solution is educating yourself and purchasing only natural incense from ethical makers such as Incense Alchemy and other brands committed to the true art of incense. Another solution, one you will find absolutely fulfilling and joy filled is to learn to make your own incense.

Making your own incense will change your relationship with the plant world of aromatics and engage you in a sacred process of alchemy, where all the elements are required to be in perfect balance. For those interestedin herbalism this will deepen and expand your relationship with plants, and how work with  them in a whole new way.

In this workshop you will:

  • Make your own incense to take home and enjoy
  • Learn basic formulation so you can create your own unique recipes at home
  • Honor to the spirit of the herbs to activate deeper healing qualities in your incense
  • Experience some of the finest aromatics available in a special incense ritual

Admission includes material costs, handouts, and incense drying box that you can reuse at home. Additional Incense materials will be available.

About the facilitator:

Your guide into the world of incense is Michael Cutter, a local incense maker located in Denver, Colorado. Michael’s passion for incense led him on a quest to find the best incense from around the world. His training as a healer with Native Americans and other shamans gave him a foundation of use of aromatics such as various sages of North America, juniper, sweetgrass, and various tree resins. Unable to find quality incense using these healing herbs he ventured into making his own, which ignited a deep passion for revival of the art of incense. It took over two years of extensive trial and error (end expense!) to master the formulations and production methods. The result is Incense Alchemy, which, according to industry experts, may be the only commercial manufacturer of this style of incense in North America. That seems surprising, but considering the extensive knowledge required and time required to make it correctly, its really not that surprising. It is this background of experience you will learn from in this workshop.
