About The Event

The Spring Equinox  will be celebrated on the beautiful indoor labyrinth at First United Methodist Church. The spring equinox is the time in the earth's annual cycle around the sun in which day and night are equal in length, before the days get longer after the darkness of winter, and life springs forth again. It is a time of re-emergence and renewal.

Rev. Barbara Middleton and Dr. Celene Lillie will open the event. Sound artists Joy Sylvia and Michael Heartsong will provide mystical sounds including didgeridoos, handpan, drums, and vocal toning while you walk the labyrinth.

The labyrinth and sound are both ancient tools for journeying within to connect, release and renew. The soundscapes will encourage you to relax and bathe in the healing space before and after your walk. The instruments played will provide a rich tonal spectrum to invoke ‘deep listening’ - a sense of becoming fully present and listening with the whole body.

This event is FREE and open to the public (no young children please). Love donations are encouraged for our musicians.

The church’s parking lot is currently under construction. A small number of handicapped parking spaces are available in the circle drive outside the church’s main entrance. For all others, please plan to park on the street or in one of the numerous parking garages within a few blocks of First United Methodist Church (the closest garage is across the street, and is accessed from 15th Street between Pearl and Spruce). To learn more about parking in downtown Boulder, please visit the parking page on our website:
