PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED BY AUGUST 30!!

This gathering will be near the Equinox while jupiter will be blazing brightly in the sky. Equinox is about transition and Jupiter is all about personal power, leadership and is a very spiritual energy. A great time to infuse these powerful energies into a drum that you make yourself.

The medicine drum has long been used as a healing tool. It can be used for sound healing, shamanic journey, holding space and more. There has never been a better time to invest in the well being of ourselves, family and community. The drum has the ability powerfully assist in breaking old patterns and visioning new realities. If you have been calling a drum into your life this workshop is for you...

For many this marks the beginning of a new time in life.  There will be an altarspace and the drums are made in a sacred and fun way to begin a relationship of magic and healing. This is a day of connecting in community and healing as well as making a drum. The drums are soaked in water and herbs and we will be working with these plants while we make the drums. In the past, the herbs have included local (Colorado) Sage (Artemesia), White Sage, Mullein, Uva Ursi, Juniper,  Tobacco, etc.. Working with the plants deepens the process and brings cleansing, blessing and earthy ancestral connection.

We  gather outside when possible so please dress appropriately. Layers are recommended. In the case of poor weather, we will gather indoors.

PRICES ARE:

16" Bison or Elk $279

18" Bison or Elk $298

About the drums, ethics, etc...  * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

All materials are ethically sourced and of the highest quality and there are lots of prayers during the process of making the drums. All materials are honored as a part of the sacred circle of life. Michael has invested many hours in learning methods to make drums that are both functional and beautiful. He is aware of cultural appropriation and is sensitive to that important subject. He has worked closely with traditional healers and elders and traveled to North and South America and South Africa learning indigenous wisdom. His work is about healing the wounds of trauma and conditioning at the core of the conflict and injustice in the world and being a bridge of indigenous wisdom into modern society.

Anthropological research suggests the frame drum originated in Siberia thousands of years ago before migrating around the planet. Perhaps this is true. I prefer the poetic traditional stories that speak of the spirit of the drum coming from the stars or spirit world that is the heartbeat of the Mother Earth. Frame drums (there are many styles) have played very important roles in traditions from North and South America, Europe, Asia and all over the world. For some interesting info visit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frame_drum where there is a compilation of info and photos in various styles from over the world. At the time of writing this, there are not references for Native American use of this style of drum. It would be nice to see that addition to the page. The drums made in the workshop are a contemporary style not intended to be connected with any particular tradition but representing the general spirit of the frame drum, or hand drum as some call them. Exact wrapping styles may vary between gatherings.

These workshops are offered with humility and the intention to heal, honor and lift the spirit of humanity, the earth, and all the diverse life she carries.
